Albourne’s notable 17th century Albourne Place is thought to have been the home of Bishop Juxon who escaped being captured by the Parliamentary Forces by pretending to be one of the bricklayers. There is a priest's hole in the chimney flue.

Albourne was purported to have a witch living in the village - Dame Prettylegs.

James Starley, a son of a farmer was born in the village in 1831. He moved to London were he found work as a gardener. He had a keen inventor especially sewing machines. In 1857 he moved to Coventry to work in the cycle and tricycle building trade. He designed numerous models and made improvement to the old designs. James Starley died in Coventry in 1881.
