Tourist Guide for Arlington East Sussex

- History of Arlington

In Saxon times Arlington was a farming village. The Saxons built a wooden church which was presumed burnt down Viking raiders.

Later in Saxon times a new church was built over the old one using Roman bricks from the nearby Roman road which went from Lewes to Pevensey .

During the 1250's the church was enlarged.

The village has remained rural throughout the middle ages until the present day.

The village is the home to Arlington Stadium which is the base of the Eastbourne Eagles speedway team. The stadium is also the host to Banger Racing.
